Office Quick Tips
Organising your desk
Use a 'toastrack' style stand up file for those folders you use every day. It's easier to find what you need quickly.
Diary in time to refresh yourself
I know you have all heard this one before, but it was reinforced for me recently. Diary in time for yourself, don't just 'fit it in' when you have a spare five or ten minutes. Schedule that daily walk or swim, take the time for a relaxing cuppa during the day, refresh yourself! Get outside and enjoy the sunshine when its there - it could save you from burnout. You will be all the more productive for it.
Review the day
At the end of each day spend 10-15 minutes reviewing the jobs still to be done. Then plan the next day. It clears your head and means that the next morning you're ready to go as soon as you reach your desk - focusing on the main tasks for the day. From Robyn Pearce, Getting a Grip on Time.
More about templates
Use 'boilerplate' text for standard documents, using descriptive words for things you would change. For example, in a template for a job quote, use the word 'address' throughout then when you want to personalise a quote, use Find & Replace to substitute the word 'address' with the actual address. Easier than finding every place you have to insert personal language in a template.
